Broadway Stars and Rescue Dogs Shine at The Carlyle’s Fetch Pet Gala
North Shore Animal League America is one
The gala’s unusual focus was clear: dogs from shelters would share the spotlight with Broadway’s biggest names. The evening began with a special „Green Carpet” walk. Adoptable dogs from North Shore Animal League America paraded for the crowd, showcasing their personalities to potential adopters.
North Shore Animal League America is one of the country’s largest no‑euthanasia rescue groups. They rescue animals from overcrowded shelters, puppy farms, and disaster zones. Their work includes veterinary care, foster placement, physical and behavioral rehabilitation, transport, and ongoing support. Since its founding, the organization has saved more than 1.2 million animals. The dogs on the carpet were part of this mission, hoping to find families who can provide a forever home.
The gala also announced its 2026 partners
The evening’s program moved to Café Carlyle for dinner and performances. Bernadette Peters, Darren Criss, and Ariana DeBose entertained guests. Peters co‑founded Broadway Barks with Mary Tyler Moore, linking theater artists to shelters. Criss, known for his role in „Glee,” recently earned a Tony for „Maybe Happy Ending.” DeBose won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2022 for „West Side Story.” Their presence highlighted the connection between the arts and animal welfare.
The gala also announced its 2026 partners: Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Broadway Barks, Wags & Walks, and North Shore Animal League America. These groups address different aspects of sheltering, adoption, and family support. Broadway Cares focuses on the broader relationship between people and animals.
After dinner, a post‑gala party and a surprise concert closed the night. Last year’s surprise guest was John Legend, setting a high bar for this year’s mystery performer. The event sold out, and a waitlist remains full, underscoring the demand for both star power and charitable giving. The funds raised will help keep pets healthy and families supported during tough times, ensuring that every dog gets a chance at a happy life.
